The South African Book Fair is the country's professional and public book event, associated with Johannesburg and usually aimed at September. It has not been equally large every year, so the 2027 edition should be confirmed with the organisers before travel. This listing uses 10–12 September 2027 in Johannesburg, with the venue left as announced by the fair. For BooksAffair it is the national meeting of South African publishers, authors, and booksellers. The Open Book Festival in Cape Town is the separate literary festival and is listed on its own.
