These guidelines are designed to ensure your voice is heard while maintaining a respectful and high-quality space for all.

What We Believe

Reviews should reflect your personal take on a book—whether you loved it, disliked it, or felt somewhere in between. We value every perspective, as long as it focuses on the book itself. The purpose of reviews on BooksAffair is to inform, inspire, or challenge other readers in their journey—not to judge individuals or promote unrelated content.

While your review always remains visible on your profile and shelves, BooksAffair prioritizes high-quality and relevant content when showcasing reviews on public book pages.

Acceptable Content

You're encouraged to:

• Express your genuine reading experience—positive, negative, or mixed.
• Write creatively—use humor, anecdotes, or personal connections as long as the book remains the focus.
• Include images or visuals to enhance your message (as long as they're appropriate).
• Review unreleased books if you received an advance copy (please mention this in your review).

Not Permitted

The following types of content may be hidden from public book pages or removed entirely:

• Personal attacks: Avoid targeting authors, other users, or reviewers. Disagree respectfully.
• Off-topic reviews: Reviews that focus on personal disputes, political views unrelated to the book, or the author's private life will not be accepted.
• Manipulative behavior: Inflating or deflating ratings by using multiple accounts or coordinating reviews will result in penalties.
• Copied content: All reviews must be your own. Don't reuse material from elsewhere unless properly credited.
• Marketing and self-promotion: Do not use reviews to advertise your own book or services, or to criticize others to promote yourself.
• Inappropriate language or imagery: Hate speech, threats, sexually explicit content, and offensive material are not allowed.
• Spam or automated content: Reviews posted in bulk, irrelevant posts, or repetitive content will be removed.
• Undisclosed free copies: If you received a book in exchange for a review, mention it clearly.

Our Role

BooksAffair may, at our discretion:

• Hide or remove any review that violates these guidelines.
• Temporarily disable reviews on specific books if suspicious patterns are detected.
• Restrict accounts that repeatedly ignore community standards.
