The Melbourne Writers Festival is Australia's other major literary festival, usually in late August or early September. Authors, publishers, and a strong local audience use city venues for a programme that often leans political and international. The 2027 dates are not yet published. This listing uses 27 August to 5 September 2027. For BooksAffair it is the Melbourne week for authors and the publishers who live in the city, which remains Australia's publishing centre. Confirm the days with the festival.
