The Edinburgh International Book Festival is one of the world's leading public literary festivals and a tier-one event for authors and readers, held in August as part of the wider Edinburgh festival season. The programme has in recent years used venues around the Edinburgh Futures Institute rather than the old Charlotte Square tents. The 2027 dates are not yet published. This listing uses 14–30 August 2027, a typical fortnight-plus inside the festival city. For BooksAffair the value is authors, festival programmers, and the publishers who tour with them, in front of an international audience. It is not a rights fair. London in March remains the UK trade event.
