Come, Follow Me…
This is the call of Christ to those who have the courage to respond to it. And Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you be
...
come fishers of men.” – Mark 1:17
Are you up to the challenge? Are you ready to radically turn your life upside down for the sake of the Son and the Gospel that proclaims His Good News – that Jesus came, lived, died and rose again to save sinners? Sinners like those around you? Sinners like those you live alongside? Sinners like you? The calling is weighty and the stakes are high – eternal souls hang in the balance and eternal reward awaits. “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” - Mark 1:15
Now go and make disciples in My name…
If you are a follower of Christ, you are a disciple of our Savior. You are His pupil. You are His student. You are His learner in the faith. As His, we know Him to be Lord and desire to be obedient to His call on our lives. But a disciple who is not in discipleship is not a disciple.
“So we tell others about Christ, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all the wisdom God has given us. We want to present them to God, perfect in their relationship to Christ.” – Colossians 1:28
We are to be in relationship with others to promote growth. This is the kind of disciple we want to be. Multiplication of our faith is a hallmark of a healthy follower of Jesus. This multiplication process is what we mean by DISCIPLESHIP. The Tool Kit is simply a resource to help make biblical discipleship happen. We believe the Bible contains everything we need to live godly in Christ Jesus. “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip His people to do every good work.” – 2 Timothy 3:16–17
The content and the format of the Tool Kit is designed to help Word-centered relationships take place. The topics covered are some of the fundamentals of the Christian faith and also are the areas that seem to create questions in our walk with Jesus. Being a disciple means listening to and learning from Jesus. This happens when we read His word for He is the Word in flesh. Being a follower is not simply learning more about Christ, but is about pressing into Him, desiring to meet with Him, to walk and talk with Him, and be in His presence. This simply cannot be done without “Getting into His Word and Getting His Word into You.” This means that the most important part of the Tool Kit is the daily process we refer to as “Reading, Reflecting, and Responding to the Word of God.”
