Equally engaging are his descriptions of reorganizing a large group of employees, without recourse to traditional office space, in the wake of the chaotic Donaldson’s fire of 1983, and of the work he and others put in raising money throughout the state for a system of environmental learning centers.
The entire narrative is infused with warmth and modesty, especially the sections devoted to his courtship of Anne Mintener, the woman who became his wife. Those who knew Peter will enjoy this brisk recount of a life well and fully lived, and those who never met him will wish they had.
