thousand pictures are taken of the Royal Australian Navy’s (RAN’s) ships, aircraft and personnel by Navy official and civilian photographers. Unfortunately, only a small selection of the range of photographs taken is available to either naval personnel or the public through such avenues as Navy News or a small number of naval journals published in Australia. This book outlines the range of subjects covered by naval photographers during 1986. Extensive coverage is provided of the spectacular Naval Review held in Sydney in October 1986 to celebrate the RAN’s 75th anniversary. Other 75th anniversary events are covered, such as the dedication of the National Naval Memorial and presentation of the Queen’s Colour at HMAS CERBERUS. Day-to-day naval activities at sea and ashore are depicted as well as those of the Navy Reserve.
