Wensel, Kim
Description
We love stories about the pivot. We almost never hear the story that comes before it.
You know the point: the one where you've outgrown a role or an
...
identity but haven't found what comes next, where your life still looks successful on paper, but no longer feels like it fits.
The Multi-Hyphenate Dilemma meets you there-in the questioning.
Who am I without this work? How much longer can I do this? What if I'm good at many things? Do I have it in me to start over?
Part memoir and part exploration of modern work, Kim Wensel shares the honest story of building a life that didn't follow a straight line. Over two decades, she collected titles, skills, and opportunities that worked--until they didn't. Her story is one many multi-passionate women will recognize: what looked like inconsistency from the outside was, in reality, an ongoing search for work that reflected who she really was.
Through personal stories and cultural observations, Kim explores why highly capable women--often praised for their adaptability, perfectionism, and ability to solve every problem--struggle the most to figure out what they actually want, and why the pressure to have a clear career plan often keeps us stuck.
If you've been trying to strategize your way out of the messy middle, this book will remind you that building a life that fits begins with letting go of where you thought you'd be.
