annot even begin to count the number of cats that have just "appeared" out of thin air at my front door. One of them must have left an invisible sign telling any passer by who needed a home to "drop in". To make matters worse, my children (who are now grown) must have had invisible signs hanging on them too because cats in need would just find them. As an example, one evening, many years ago, one of my sons brought home an orange-stripped American Mix short-haired cat that we subsequently dubbed as "Pumpkin". My son, Ron, was driving home late that night and thought his car had passed over an object. Stopping the car to check, he discovered a cat with its head stuck in a pumpkin can - thus, the name "Pumpkin". Having been surrounded with cats all of his life, he simply could not leave it there! We are sure you, too, have many stories to tell and we hope that you will laugh a little as perhaps you find little bits and pieces of your experiences as you read this book. We also hope you enjoy the comments throughout the book, which have been written from a cat's perspective. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed writing "The Cat's Pajamas! A Personal Journal & Record Book" and hope that you have as much fun with it as we did in putting it together. Product Description This charming book, is the perfect place to store cat's medical information, annual vaccinations, etc, family tree and special moments and photographs. Perfect for the new kitten in your life or the sage adult that shares your home. From the Publisher A similar book for dogs, entitled "A Charmed Life! My Dog's Personal Journal & Record Book" will be available by Summer of 2000. About the Author The authors, who wish to go by the name of RayMar, are two grandmothers who have always had a love affair with cats. This love affair began when they were children and continues to this day. Their life experiences in raising their children alongside their feline friends, served as the inspiration for this book. The authors will tell you that there must be an invisible sign hanging outside their doors because cats keep showing up! This is the first book written by these "grandmothers" (RayMar) and a similar book about dogs will be released in the near future. Excerpt. Β© Reprinted by permission. All rights reserved. CAT RULES Chairs & Rugs: If you have to throw up, hop into a chair, quickly. If you can't, get to an Oriental rug or, at the very least, good carpeting. NEVER throw up on a vinyl floor. Doors: Do not allow closed doors in any room. To get a door opened, stand on your hind legs and hammer with your forepaw. Be sure to meow as loud and as long as you can. Once the door is open, it is not necessary to use it. After you have ordered an outside door to be opened, stand halfway in and halfway out; then think about several things. This is particularly important if it is very hot, very cold, snowing, raining or there are a lot of flies. Guests: Quickly assess which guests hates cats the most. Sit on that lap. If you can manage to have Fish Odor on your breath, so much the better! For sitting on laps or rubbing against legs, select a color that contrasts nicely with your fur, such as white with black, etc. For a guest that claims to love cats, be ready with aloof disdain, nip their ankle or refuse to go near them. When walking among dishes on the dining room table, be prepared to look surprised and hurt when scolded. The idea is to convey that you are always allowed on the table when guests are not there. Always accompany each guest to the bathroom. It is not necessary to do anything; just sit and stare.
