Product Description Based on the author's research, teaching, and therapeutic practice in the field of aging the book describes how "autobiographical consciousness" can become a creative psychological and spiritual resource for individuals in late life. As a result of more than 15 years of study of the role and use of reminiscence in his research and practice with older adults, the author has compiled a great many oral life histories of older individuals from all walks of life. Some of these individuals displayed remarkably rich and wise insights into the meaning and significance of their extended lives. Several of these individuals were selected to illustrate for the reader of this book the creative and sustaining power of what is called "autobiographical consciousness."
