t as well for roasting veggies as they do for transporting nacho cheese from the oven to the table. A cooling rack within a sheet pan can be used to cook precisely crispy bacon, or you can use it to broil meat that has been braised to add some texture.

Even a complete dinner of meat, starch, and veggies can be prepared on one. These are referred to as "sheet pan dinners," and busy families and meal preppers love them. Try a sheet pan dinner and other meals by making your kitchen into a test kitchen!
Sheet-pan suppers are trendy these days. The pan transmits heat efficiently and has ample surface area for a complete plate of meat and vegetables that cooks relatively quickly. Even if you're not preparing a whole meal, sheet pans are great for roasting vegetables, especially when you want them to bake and crisp rather than steam. If you don't have a pizza stone or baking steel, a sheet pan can be used to make pizza. It makes a fantastic thick-crust Sicilian pizza when turned right side up.
While baking, you can also experiment with using sheet pans instead of using sheet cakes to make a layer cake, as you can cut one big cake into several pieces to stack rather than trying to slice taller cakes horizontally.
Speaking of pies, baking them on a parchment-lined sheet pan can help you get a crisped crust while also preventing boiling fruit juices from scorching on the oven floor.
On a sheet pan, cookies have lots of room to breathe, and even with appropriate spacing, you can pack a lot on one. Stack two pans together to create an insulated configuration to prevent cookie bottoms from over-browning. And, unlike cookie sheets, which only have a rim on one edge, you won't have to worry about your baked goods slipping off a rimmed sheet pan.
When used in conjunction with a metal wire rack, you can create a setup that allows for air circulation beneath whatever you're cooking, allowing fat to flow away from meat (crunchy bacon!) and breaded dishes (onion rings, for example) to avoid becoming soggy. Because the excess passes through the rack and is kept in the pan, the pan-rack combination also provides an excellent station for coating cakes in sprinkles or covering other delicacies in melted chocolate or ganache. A sheet pan is a solid, capacious choice for transporting food from one location to another, such as the kitchen to the grill. It's also useful for storing many ingredients that need to be accessed all at once or in quick succession, such as in a stir-fry.
Before putting food in a zip-top bag, lay it out on a waxed or parchment-paper-lined sheet pan so it can freeze separately without sticking together. This works for berries, dumplings, and vegetarian burgers.
