Consider this a "Preface" if you want;
I will call it "Foreword", as is my wont!
Preface or Foreword, it is the same thing;

To the folks who insist on a Preface
For each book which comes to them face-to-face,
I have got news for you: I wouldn't write one;
Things like Preface and Foreword kill the fun!
What does Preface achieve, I do not know?!
Does Foreword make difference? Answer is No!
Of course, it increases page-count of book;
Most folks won't read it, they won't even look!
I know it myself; I was one of them!
Would I have read it if I had the time?
I wouldn't know, it is hypothetical
(Hence, I write this as parenthetical)!
Preface, to me, is a waste of my time;
In my simple mind, it ain't worth a dime!
Like I'd said, it increases count of page;
"Don't judge book by pages" is new adage!
You say it's only two or three pages;
In grand scheme of things, it averages!
Two pages here, two pages over there
Would not make any difference anywhere!
But that is not true, we destroy them trees;
We miss music made on trees by the breeze!
Imagine the number of trees cut down!
Color of our "Green Earth" would become brown!
Two pages for Preface, two for Foreword,
They add up depending on count of word.
It's environmentalist in me talking:
We all have a bad habit of breathing!
Yet certain publishers insist on it;
I do not know what they get out of it!
Does price of book depend on the page count?
It sure feels like that's the way it does sound!
May I, therefore, ask you consider this
Piece of lousy poetry as Preface?
While you do that, let me also ask you
To consider this one as Foreword, too!
