As the papers in this collection demonstrate, the literary place of praise is an active, progressive place, composed through appreciation and care and endlessly creating anew the values it once was thought merely to reinforce. Clearly, praise requires and yields an openness that exceeds the emphasis on display so often promoted with respect to epideictic discourses. As one paper flows into another, moreover, praise continuously shifts locations, imaginatively beginning anew without starting over, like the rhizome, which Deleuze and Guattari describe as having "multiple entryways."
