This most recent volume contains tax records for the years 1834 to 1843 from the Second Tax Book which was found in the attic of the town hall. The town of Orrington saved a great deal of valuable tax records during the period of 1820 to 1860. In fact, in the years 1840 and 1843 they even saved the working copy provided by the state which included more than 250 different categories; needless to say, they did not use them all. These records give an interesting overview of the town, its wealth and resources as well as providing information about the individual families.
