The stories creativity resurrects the tall tales from an era free of internet and video games. Pig Tales continues the adventures of the boy as he has more unanticipated events in northeast Iowa. The reader is given an entertaining ride as the boy encounters more country life that no one would believe if he told them.
Chapter Descriptions
1 - 4th of July: This is a two-part story. First, is the 4th of July celebration in the little town of Elma. The firework display is almost destroyed when a wild boar invades the show. The second part is how bottle rockets end up saving the world.
2 – Scouting: This is four short stories on scouting. The first story tells of setting up camp and eventually the camp fire story. Story two is about the pancake competition where everything from splitting wood to eating pancakes must be done faster than the other team. The third story is about the encounter with the legendary Wendigo. The last story is about the trials of camping in Iowa in the winter.
3 – Atomic Seeds: This is the story of how atomically radiated seeds grow plants that end up threatening the family
4 – Sparky: Is the story about a boy and his dog. When a special meteorite exposes them to something unknown, they are both affected in a surprising way.
5 – Winter of 62: This is a two-part story about an Iowa winter storm. When a school bus becomes stranded in the blizzard the fathers of the children must brave the storm in hopes of finding them before the freeze to death. Part two covers the second day of the story that bring white out and sub-zero conditions to the farm.
6 – The Evergreen: This the story of the boy that climbs a tall evergreen to cut the top off for the family Christmas tree. Not only does the boy have a frightful climb up the tree but he ends up bringing something else into the house.
