However, the Sixties brought changes at a rapid place in all corners of life. Some Perkasie traditions and buildings disappeared, while schools faced record enrollments and society dealt with the many facets of the Vietnam era. By the early 1970s, an unexpected crisis would stop all building development in the borough for six years.
“Perkasie and the Baby Boom” contains a narrative history of the period between 1946 and 1971, a monthly chronology of the era, and more than 100 photographs and illustrations.
R. Scott Bomboy is the author of “Perkasie: An American Hometown (1683-1945),” the first book in this series, and “Wooden Treasures: The Story of Bucks County's Covered Bridges.” He is a historian and preservationist who was written frequently about Bucks County’s past. In his career, Bomboy has received national awards for his work in educational journalism and digital publishing, including five Edward R. Murrow awards in
television. He resides in Perkasie with his wife, Linn.
