Focuses on three areas -- surveillance, epidemiology, & prevention research; communications & education; & program, policies, & systems -- which are proposed to stimulate & strengthen a national coordinated effort for reducing the occurrence of arthritis & its accompanying disability. The Plan's aims are: increase public awareness; prevent arthritis; promote early diagnosis & appropriate management for people with arthritis; minimize pain & disabilities; & ensure that patients receive the family, peer, & community support they need.
