इसी मर्म की जिज्ञासा ने डॉ. भटनागर को मसि पर तीन उपन्यास लिखने की प्रेरणा दी-' पयस्विनी मीरा '; ' श्यामप्रिया ' और ' प्रेमदीवानी ' । अचरज यह है कि ये सभी उपन्यास एक-दूसरे से पूर्णतया भिन्न हैं- कथ्य; चरित्र और भाषा -शैली में । इनमें यह उपन्याम तो इन सबसे मूलत : भिन्न है । इसमें मीरा का चरित्र एक वीर क्षत्राणी का है और भक्तिन- समर्पिता का । विद्रोह में समर्पण की सादगी यहाँ; द्रष्टव्य है ।
