It is possible to define the "DUA" as an invocation or a prayer addressed to Allah. It represents the essence of worship (ibadah). The doua should be the only recourse available to the believer, as it is a conversation with Allah. There are differing views among the faithful about the timing, format and content of this invocation, but there is a broad consensus that it should be performed with humility, clarity, submission and the certainty that Allah will answer it.
God says: "And your Lord says: 'Call upon Me, I will answer you'" (40, 60). He also says: "Say, 'My Lord will not care for you without your prayer'" (25:77). The invocation of God can take the form of a supplication to the Most High to fulfill the request of His servant. It can also take the form of a reminder of God "dhikr" through the recitation of the Qur'an, the glorification of God or the imploring of His forgiveness. It can also be a spiritual state: piety. The present book "The answered invocations" of Sheikh Ahmad 'Abd al-jawâd is an anthology of invocations drawn from the Book of God and the Prophetic Tradition. It will be, for those who aspire to God and to the ultimate abode, a source where they can drink their soul and a ladder that will lift them up to the divine presence. Blessed is the servant to whom God has allowed to call upon Him and whom He has answered.
