er how hostile the folks might seem to be. There is always a place for you in someone's heart. God and find it. And never forget: Human hearts are like fishes in rich water. To angle one you have to bait your heart own heart. You catch a heart with a heart.' Masai hears these words from the mouth of a seer as he prepares to embark on his journey. He has heard a voice that called on him to leave his people and cross a boundary. He crosses the boundary, and meets many wise people from different corners of the earth. The meeting with each of these people leaves him wiser and richer. However, he has not yet been transformed. When he becomes materially rich, he realizes that his life has lost much of the meaning it used to have, for the riches have displaced his self worth. He discovers a mysterious cat, which completely changes him, and turns him to new self-discovery. This is a story that teaches us the elemental wisdom of self-discovery: the true search for oneself often begins with the openness to the other. It is a fable about a journey t the self, packaged in a language that easily reminds one of Antoine de Saint-Exupery or Kahlil Gibran.
