...
't stay outside the office. It shapes how we lead, and it grows from patterns formed long before we ever led anyone.
Ella Björnsdóttir calls them lifetraps in leadership. You will most likely recognize them in yourself and in the people around you.
-The Driver, who cannot rest.
-The Pleaser, who cannot say no.
-The Imposter, always waiting to be found out.
-The Rescuer, who helps everyone and asks for nothing.
-The Performer, who seeks approval by performing excellence.
There are twelve patterns. Each one pays a quiet tax on your leadership, your team, and your life.
Grounded in schema therapy, neuroscience, and drawn from twenty years coaching leaders across nearly fifty countries, Lifetraps in Leadership is not another framework. It is the missing piece beneath the ones you already trust: the steady, authentic leader beneath the performance, where authenticity and results finally meet.
Praise for Lifetraps in Leadership
"Ella Björnsdóttir has written the book about what happens when we skip the Private Victory. Lifetraps in Leadership is not another framework, it is the work that has to happen underneath the ones we already trust. The most human leadership book I have read in years."
-Sean Covey, CEO, FranklinCovey Education
"A refreshingly human perspective on leadership, showing why authenticity and high performance belong together. It names things many leaders feel but rarely have the language to describe."
-Jacob Kragh, CEO, Quooker; board member, former CEO of LEGO Education and LEGO China
"She encourages the reader to reflect on aspects of leadership that are subtle or less apparent, yet important in shaping leadership capacity and effectiveness, with clear, illustrative examples that deepen the reader's understanding."
-Rannveig Rist, former CEO, RioTinto Iceland
"One of the freshest and most original contributions to leadership thinking that I have encountered - and among the very best I have read."
-Árni Sigfússon, Former mayor of Reykjavík and mayor of Reykjanesbær
"She IS who she says she IS, and her book is an authentic representation of Ella's character, wisdom, and lifelong learnings. Our family has directly benefited from being coached by her."
-Steve Young, Former chief financial officer, FranklinCovey
