h Dr. Douglas Drabkin in the spring semester of 2020, just before the pandemic hit Kansas. Dr. Drabkin had advertised that he would be teaching a course on Plato's Republic, and I could not resist signing up. The Registrar's Office at Fort Hays State University allowed me to audit the course, with Dr. Drabkin's blessing, and I got busy getting my copy of the Reeves translation and answering the homework questions for the first week from Dr. Drabkin's online commentary, "The Intelligent Troglodyte's Guide to Plato's Republic" (2018). I made it through week seven of the semester before it became necessary for me to stop participating and focus all of my attention on my own teaching, especially with the added concerns related to that first round of Covid-19. So this book contains my answers from the first seven weeks of that philosophy course, in response to questions regarding content from Books I to VII of Plato's Republic. I am hopeful that reading my ideas can help other would-be philosophers to access this important masterpiece of western civilization.
