The Naches Ranger District, located mostly in Yakima County and along the east side of the central Washington Cascades has hosted a number of lookout stations throughout the period between 1920 and 1990. Today, Jumpoff Lookout is the last remaining lookout station in Yakima County, though unstaffed. All the other Yakima sites are now abandoned. This collection of fire lookout stations on the Naches District has been compiled to stimulate interest in the old Yakima County sites, enhance cultural resource protection, and encourage public interpretive programs associated with theses old places. ~from the introduction
