...
lism in Young India and Nuestra América) explores the shared ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and José Martí, two influential leaders who shaped the struggles for independence and justice in their respective eras.
In the late 19th century, José Martí, a Cuban poet, journalist, and revolutionary, fought for Cuba's independence from Spain, advocating for a united Latin America free from imperial domination. Decades later, in the early 20th century, Mahatma Gandhi, an Indian lawyer, activist, and philosopher, led India's nonviolent resistance against British rule, emphasizing self-discipline and civil disobedience as paths to true freedom.
By examining Gandhi's and Martí's writings in Young India and Nuestra América, this book highlights how their ideas influenced social and political movements, offering lessons that remain relevant in today's fight against inequality and oppression. Their philosophies continue to inspire efforts toward a more just and unified world.
