He worked as an engineer for a number of years before changing professions and becoming a high school science teacher in Princeton, NJ, where he taught physics and chemistry for twenty-six years at Princeton Day School. He has two children, a son Ralph, who has five children, lives in Boston, and is a middle-school teacher, and a daughter Amy, who is the mother of four and is presently living outside of Amherst, MA.
