nd most energy-dependent fashions. Similar rapid transformations have significantly raised the need for various carriers of energy, exacerbating the energy crisis. This alarm has highlighted the necessity for increasing energy generation potential to continuously meet the new pattern of energy consumption in its different forms. Herein, the negative impacts of fossil fuel-powered generation units on the clean environment and climate change, as well as limited sources of such fuels, have driven the energy infrastructure to avail carbon-free solutions in the energy production process. As renewable energy sources (RESs) are known as a multi-beneficial option for compensating for energy shortages in line with the digitalization trend of the world, their inherent nature in delivering uncontrollable energy has made remarkable challenges in procuring secure and sustainable energy to end-users. Although uncertainty in RESs' output has enhanced the risk of fully relying on them in energy generation, future modern energy networks (MENs) are scheduled to highly utilize the potential of RESs for clean energy production under deep decarbonization frameworks. In this respect, deep decarbonization not only emphasizes a high/full usage of RESs in the energy production sector, but also refers to a set of efforts in the vast area of energy interactions from energy conversion to storage, trading, and management. However, considering all the effects of such strategies on climate change, energy security, and sustainability in energy delivery is one of the most prominent steps in successfully reaching sustainable development goals adopted by the United Nations. Nevertheless, how deep decarbonization strategies can be effectively implemented in energy structures while taking effective factors of climate change and grid sustainability into account is a key question that needs to be addressed in deep detail. As demand for multi-carrier energy is rapidly growing and global concerns are rising due to unacceptable releasing carbon emissions, a great need is felt for deep decarbonization of multi-energy networks by focusing on the climate-energy-sustainability nexus frameworks. This book covers multifarious efforts for deep decarbonization of MENs and states creative ways for developing new solutions for developing green grid structures in line with the climate-energy-sustainability nexus."-- Provided by publisher.
