From the Back Cover
"Wonderful powerful poems," Dame Iris Murdoch, Novelist
"Janine Canan shows us the wild imbalance of our planetforgotten Mother of us allas She careens toward the millennium, wounded and perhaps on the verge of apocalypse after being methodically pillaged for nearly six thousand years. Canan writes with anger, craft, and passion; preserving a vision of hope that is often perilously close to despair. The poems in this collection are some of the best and strongest she has ever written." Mary Mackey, author of The Earthsong Trilogy
The true poet is a seerable to still the mind and open the heart. The true poet endures dismemberment, loneliness, terror, grief, as well as ecstasy, to find the incandescent jewel of words that connect soul with Soul. Like a surgeon, the true poet removes the cataract from our clouded eye so we can see the Beauty and the Mystery. Janine Canan is such a poetrare and precious in a culture that ignores the spirit. Anne Baring, co-author of The Divine Feminine
