This is the first comprehensive resource guide to be published that outlines the financing options available in Armenia from various sources that have a special or unique mandate for Armenia. The handbook includes descriptions of governmental, non-governmental, multilateral, and private sources of financing. The publication also contains an economic and political profile of Armenia. The first section is on micro-credit financing, which has grown substantially over the past several years in Armenia as international donors shift from humanitarian to economic development assistance programs. The second section covers 28 banks operating in Armenia. The third section describes the various U.S. government programs available to promote economic and commercial development in Armenia. The fourth section describes the programs of international financial institutions. Finally, the fifth section covers two equity funds that are available to finance projects in the Caucasus and the New Independent States. For each program, the handbook describes (to the extent possible) the criteria needed to qualify for such financing, and the terms and conditions. In addition, many micro-credit and international finance programs cooperate with local Armenian Banks so we have cross-referenced throughout the document.
