ुस्तान सोशलिस्ट रिपब्लिकन आर्मी’ के वे सक्रिय सदस्य थे। 8 अप्रैल, 1929 को दिल्ली की सेंट्रल असेंबली में बम विस्फोट के बाद भगत सिंह एवं बटुकेश्वर दत्त जन-जन के नायक बन गए। यह बम विस्फोट औपनिवेशिक शासन व्यवस्था की नींव पर चोट करनेवाला साबित हुआ। कारावास में की गई लंबी भूख-हड़ताल भारत के इतिहास में नजीर बनकर सामने आई। अंडमान जेल में ‘कालापानी’ की सजा के बाद भी बटुकेश्वर दत्त ने किसान आंदोलन, 1942 क्रांति और उसके बाद के स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के विभिन्न आंदोलनों में भाग लिया और जेल की यातनाएँ सहीं। 3 अक्तूबर, 1963 से 6 मई, 1964 तक वे बिहार विधान परिषद् के सदस्य भी रहे। उनकी अंतिम इच्छा यही थी कि मृत्यु के बाद उनका अंतिम संस्कार वहीं हो, जहाँ ‘सरदार’ (भगत सिंह) की समाधि है। 20 जुलाई, 1965 को दिल्ली में उनकी मृत्यु होने के बाद फिरोजपुर के हुसैनीवाला में सरदार भगत सिंह की समाधि के निकट ही उनका अंतिम संस्कार किया गया। जीवन भर भगत सिंह के साथ रहनेवाले बटुकेश्वर दत्त मृत्यु के बाद भी भगत सिंह के साथ ही रहे।Batukeshwar Dutt Aur Krantikari Andolan by Bhairab Lal Das: Explore the life and revolutionary movements of Batukeshwar Dutt in "Batukeshwar Dutt Aur Krantikari Andolan" by Bhairab Lal Das.
