क्या गलत था अगर वह मीडिया के क्षेत्र में जाना चाहती थी! टी.वी. एंकर, न्यूज रीडर बनना चाहती थी। हिंदी साहित्य में उच्च शिक्षा लेना चाहती थी। क्या मिला किसी को उस पर विज्ञान के विषय थोपकर? उसे डॉक्टर बनाने की व्यर्थ कोशिश में एक अधकचरा असफल व्यक्तित्व तैयार हो गया। ऐसे ही डॉक्टर तो पेट में कैंची-तौलिया भूलते हैं। जरूर उन्हें इस व्यवसाय में माता-पिता द्वारा जबरदस्ती भेजा जाता होगा। जिंदगी का ये अध्याय ऐसा नहीं है, जिसे वह बार-बार खोलकर पढ़े। वह इस अध्याय को पूरी ताकत से अपनी याददाश्त के सबसे निचले तले में दबाकर रखती है। आज निराली नाम की आँधी में अटक ये अध्याय स्वत ही फडफ़ड़ा उठा। जबरदस्ती विज्ञान विषय दिलाने से और अतिरिक्त ट्यूशन लगाने से कोई डॉक्टर बन सकता है क्या? और धीरे-धीरे उन अवांछित थोपे विषयों के बोझ तले उसका व्यक्तित्व ध्वस्त हो गया। इस हद तक ध्वस्त कि उसे खुद की क्षमताओं पर ही नहीं, अपने होने पर भी शक रहने लगा।
