WAITING FOR THE MONSTER TO DIE
I live my life but I spend my time - Waiting for the monster to die. This thing has stolen so much from me - Oh! all the lost years: they are gone for ever. It has robbed me of my ability To sustain any level of happiness, For more than a fleeting moment. It has made me doubt my faith in God, And created a lingering sense of hopelessness That pervades every crevice in my being. I know that when it's dead - I'll be free. I'll be free of doubt and hatred, And this total revulsion I feel, When thoughts of it fester in my brain. Every hour creeps idly by - As I wait in hope, for the monster to die. And if God would answer, but one of the prayers I pray, Then let Him make the monster, die today.
CIGARETTE
Cigarette, cigarette, Comfort and cradle me; Cigarette, cigarette, Gently lift away my misery; Cigarette, cigarette, Won't you light my way? Most loyal of friends: Ever-present, every day. Cigarette, cigarette, They want to take you from me; They've already taken so much, Now they want me empty. Cigarette, cigarette, Can only I know what you do? Am I the last one To be in love with you? Cigarette, cigarette, Let us smile and wait for the day, Because we both know that everyone Needs a cigarette some day.
