verage from AI-enhanced developer portals to fully autonomous platform operations Master agentic AI patterns, including autonomous operations, self-healing, and human-in-the-loop governance Generate infrastructure-as-code and automate CI/CD pipelines through conversational AI interfaces Book Description
Platform engineers today face a growing challenge; developer platforms must scale faster than teams can maintain them. This book gives you a clear, practical path to solving this, showing how to embed GenAI, RAG, MCP, and autonomous agents into the platforms your developers depend on every day.
Written by three AWS specialists and platform engineering practitioners, including contributors to KubeCon, re:Invent, and PlatformCon, this book bridges the gap between AI theory and real-world platform implementation. Each chapter builds on the last, taking you from foundational concepts through to advanced agentic patterns and production-ready governance.
You will learn how to build conversational interfaces that let developers generate infrastructure-as-code in plain language, implement RAG systems grounded in your organization's own knowledge, and deploy autonomous agents that self-heal, triage incidents, and onboard developers without manual intervention. Crucially, you will also learn how to keep humans in the loop, governing AI behavior with guardrails, identity controls, and compliance frameworks.
Whether you are modernizing an existing internal developer platform or building one from scratch, this book gives you the architectural patterns, code examples, and case studies to do it with confidence. What you will learn Integrate GenAI and RAG into internal developer platforms Build conversational interfaces for infrastructure-as-code generation Implement AI-powered observability with agentic self-healing Design and deploy multi-agent systems for autonomous operations Apply MCP to connect AI tools with organizational knowledge systems Secure AI-enhanced platforms against prompt injection and identity threats Govern agentic AI with human-in-the-loop patterns and compliance frameworks Evaluate build vs. buy decisions for AI platform tooling Who this book is for
This book is for platform engineers, SREs, DevOps professionals, and cloud architects who want to integrate AI into their internal developer platforms. If you are responsible for building or maintaining internal platforms and want to automate operations, improve developer experience, and introduce intelligent self-service capabilities, this book is for you. Technical leaders driving AI adoption within engineering teams will also find valuable strategic guidance. Basic familiarity with cloud computing, infrastructure as code, and DevOps practices is assumed.
